Surat al-Baqarah. 127, 129 وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ ۞ رَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِنَا أُمَّةً مُّسْلِمَةً لَّكَ وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَا إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ ۞ رَبَّنَا وَابْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ ۞ "And (also remember the time) when Ibrahim and Ishmael were raising the foundation of this house (Kaaba). (And at the same time they used to pray) O our Lord, accept (this action) from us. Indeed, He is the Great Hearer and the Great Knower. . O our Lord! Make us your (true) Muslims (obedient servants). And declare one of our children as Ummah Muslima (obedient Ummah). And tell us the ways of our worship. And accept our repentance. Verily, He is the Most Merciful. . O our Lord, send among them (the Muslim Ummah) a prophet from among them who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify their souls. Indeed, He is mighty and wise. " Commentary verses In the above verses, Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) and Hazrat Ismail (A.S.) prayed for the appearance of the Prophet of Islam (S.A.W.) and described the three objectives of his mission: 1. The first purpose is the recitation of the verses of God before the people. It is actually a reference to awakening people through these verses. Because these verses are excellent, absorbing and heartwarming and were revealed to the Prophet's heart in the form of revelation. The purpose of recitation is to awaken the sleepy souls through the prophetic verses. The word (yatlu) is used in the verse, the substance of which is from recitation. It literally means succession. When the texts are read one after the other and in the correct order, the Arabs call it recitation. Therefore, systematic and successive recitation is actually a prelude to education and training. 2. The second goal is the education of books and wisdom, because training is not possible without knowledge and awareness, training is actually the third stage. There can be a difference between the book and wisdom in the sense that the book refers to the heavenly book and the wisdom refers to the sciences, mysteries and reasons and purposes of the commands which are taught by the Prophet. 3. The third purpose is purification. The meaning of purification is also described in the dictionary as development. This point is particularly worth noting that the human sciences are limited and even have thousands of ambiguities and errors. The soundness of what a man knows cannot be fully believed because he has already seen the mistakes of his knowledge. This is the place where the need is realized that the Prophets of God should come among the people after obtaining the correct knowledge free from all kinds of errors from the source of revelation, to correct the mistakes of the people and to explain what they do not know. Educate them and reassure them about what they know. The second thing that needs to be mentioned here is that half of our personality is made up of intellect and wisdom and half of our personality is made up of nature, inclinations and desires. That's why we need training as much as we need education. That is why the Prophet is also a teacher and a teacher. Teaching is also their job and also training. 📚 Source Tafsir sample
