Respected Irfan Siddiqui writes well. There is innovation in his writing and also words. He has also been teaching and this is often reflected in his writings. Their thoughts and priorities are not hidden from anyone. And verily they have every right to heap up evidence in favour of their enemies . However, a serious columnist like him cannot be expected to deliberately turn a blind eye to the facts while making a mistake about someone else.
In his column of Daily Jang on July 11, 2023 titled “When will these judges come in the dock”, he has completely ignored the facts while referring to Jamaat-e-Islami. For example, he wrote that on August 1620, Jamaat-e-Islami filed the first petition for action against Nawaz Sharif.
In this way, he deliberately hid the fact that Jamaat-e-Islami had approached the Supreme Court not only against Nawaz Sharif but against 436 people involved in Panama Leaks. Respected Irfan Siddiqui sahib is very clear that Jamaat-e-Islami has been against all kinds of corruption of every government in every period. We have never believed in pick and choose in accountability. It was we who said that the behavior of “Tera chor murdabad mera chor zindabad” has caused irreparable damage to the country and the nation. We started the movement of accountability against corruption from the time of Respected Qazi Hussain Ahmed Sahib, which continued even during the reign of Respected Syed Munawar Hasan Sahib. When Siraj-ul-Haq started the Corruption Free Pakistan Movement, hundreds of rallies, rallies and protests across Pakistan created an atmosphere of corruption-free Pakistan. We took out a train march and raised a movement against corruption. We raised our voice against corruption in TV talk shows. In fact, only Jamaat-e-Islami has the right to speak against corruption and raise the voice of revolt because no one including PPP, PTI, PML-N is free from corruption. It is only Jamaat-e-Islami, whose members of national and provincial assemblies, senators, ministers Mayor Karachi Abdul Sattar Afghani Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan are not even falsely accused of corruption. Since Jamaat-e-Islami was running the movement for corruption-free Pakistan, when Panama Leaks came to light, Jamaat-e-Islami first filed a petition in the Supreme Court against Panama Leaks, stating that the National Accountability Agencies did not do their work for which they should be questioned and asked to determine those responsible and punish them.
Our request was not against any individual. Nor does Jamaat-e-Islami believe in the doctrine of necessity in accountability. We had filed this petition against all the 436 people, so it is not at all correct for Respected Irfan Siddiqui that Jamaat-e-Islami had filed a petition against Nawaz Sharif. Although the fact is that we are against the corruption of Mian Nawaz Sharif and his family like others, but we have always demanded impartial and impartial accountability as our application was against 436 people, so we were also told by the opposition that they have applied against 436 people to save Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Respected Irfan Siddiqui’s statement is also contrary to the facts that after three days, five major objections were raised and “it was returned as useless, useless, hollow, meaningless, insensitive and cheap”. There is no such thing at all. Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan had demanded from the Supreme Court to conclude the investigation against 436 people.
(a) A three-member commission headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan comprising two other judges of the Supreme Court should be formed to investigate the assets of 436 people involved in the Panama Leaks.
(b) The Commission may constitute a Committee of Experts to review in detail the affairs of offshore companies and their accounts.
(c) It shall be the responsibility of this Committee to verify the transfer, transfer and subsequent transfer of funds to offshore accounts, purchase of properties abroad and other investments.
(d) The Commission shall direct the Respondent to grant non-refundable immunity so that the process of investigation may proceed.
On November 7, 2016, in the Panama Leaks case, the counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan filed a miscellaneous petition based on additional TORs in the Constitutional Petition No. 28/2016 of Jamaat-e-Islami.
The miscellaneous petition said that Jamaat-e-Islami had earlier filed constitutional petition number 28. It has been said in the petition that many commissions have been formed in the judicial history of Pakistan and their recommendations are also there, but no final result has been achieved. Therefore, it is necessary to set up a commission for inquiry and trial that those named in the Panama Papers, who have been guilty of illegal actions, it is necessary to expose the facts. Jamaat-e-Islami said in its petition in the Supreme Court that…
1۔ The proceedings of the Commission should be open to the public. 2. The Commission should complete the investigation in at least 25 days.
On this occasion, the lawyers of Jamaat-e-Islami urged the court to expand the scope of investigation against all the 436 people. But the court said that we cannot open such a Pandora’s box.
After hearing the arguments, the bench finally asked Jamaat-e-Islami about the petition regarding accountability of all, in which Jamaat-e-Islami was dedicated that this bench should hear this petition after this case, but when the bench did not agree, Jamaat-e-Islami left it to the discretion of the bench, on which the bench separated the old petition of Jamaat-e-Islami and sent it to the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The same petition is now being heard by a two-member bench after so long.
On June 9, 2023, the Panama case was heard again. Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Mr. Sirajul Haq Sahib was present on this hearing, Ishtiaq Ahmed Raja, Advocate appeared in the Supreme Court on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami. On this occasion, Rafaqat Hussain Shah Advocate Supreme Court also expressed his views. A two-member bench adjourned the hearing sine die.
We are still fighting a judicial, legal, parliamentary and people’s war against the corruption of every era and every individual. And we believe that insha Allah we will win this war against corruption!
