Pakistan, Azerbaijan agree to increase bilateral trade

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Khizar Farhadov said Azerbaijan has started direct flights to Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, which has also helped to triple the commercial turnover. During a meeting with Dr Khurram Tariq, President, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday, the ambassador also stressed on the need for exhibitions to enhance bilateral trade and said that we have a very easy visa method. It only takes three hours to achieve. “We are working with Pakistan for cooperation in the fields of energy, health and agriculture. We are already importing rice from Pakistan and There is a huge market for Pakistani rice in Azerbaijan. “We want trade relations in favour of Pakistan and we want to sign a preferential trade agreement with Pakistan to enhance economic ties,” he said. He said that more than 300 businessmen have visited Azerbaijan. Khizr Farhadov said that Azerbaijan has abolished the duty on rice and now the time has come to export rice from Pakistan to Azerbaijan. Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Dr Khurram Tariq said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have good diplomatic relations and there is definitely a need to explore new ways of new products to increase trade. He said that there is huge potential for joint ventures in the tourism sector and Azerbaijan can also benefit from Pakistan’s expertise in the IT sector.
