The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project has so far created more than 200,000 jobs in Pakistan, 8,000 MW of electricity has been added to the national grid, construction of 510 km of highways and 932 km of roads network has been completed and 820 km of optical fibre line has been laid. This will increase Pakistan’s exports as well as strengthen the foundation of industrial development through technology transfer. According to an estimate, the completion of the Special Economic Zones under CPEC will create 1.5 to 2 million jobs and increase business activities by One trillion rupees annually.
۔ More than 150 Chinese companies and investors have invested more than $1.5 billion in this economic zone. In this regard, FIEDMC has also given 10 years tax exemption to investors. Pakistan has set up two nuclear power plants in Karachi with a total generation capacity of 2,117 MW. The total cost of these plants was $ 9.5 billion. Of this, $6.5 billion was financed by KEx Bank China. Pakistan was to pay $ 2 billion in this loan of government guarantee in two years. China has facilitated this payment to Pakistan.
China-Pakistan Digital Corridor is being launched which is very important for Pakistan in this era of development. In terms of technology, Pakistan is still far behind the world, while India is raising flags in the field of IT. It is gratifying that through The China-Pakistan Digital Corridor, the youth will get full opportunity to advance in the field of technology and Pakistan will take full advantage of infrastructure, science and new technologies. The biggest expectation is that the 1733 km Railway Track (ML1) from Karachi to Peshawar will be completed with the cooperation of China. China is reportedly investing $6.5 billion in the project.
