Asim Munir and politics of the army

Last year, on November 24, 2022, when Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif named Lieutenant General Syed Asim Munir as the country’s 17th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), the appointment of General Asim Munir as chief of army staff seemed to revolve more about political than institutional importance. One of the main reasons for this is that often the armed forces of Pakistan have been accused of involving themselves excessively in politics, constitutionally and legally, the army should not be involved in politics and then we have army chiefs like Zia-ul-Haq and Yahya Khan who got involved in head-to-toe politics and we are today. They are bearing the brunt of interfering in their politics. Constitutionally, the military cannot interfere in politics.And this is the reason that the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan was included in 2010, in which violation of the Constitution is a crime of serious treason, while at the same time removing the power of higher courts to legalize such interference and crimes like violation of the constitution. There is no need to write about what happened in the 2018 elections, but the question arises that why does the army need to interfere in politics? When the father of the house will see that the children and other members of the family are eating the house, we Sindhis, Baloch and Pakhtuns easily blame the establishment for their problems.
Don’t build roads in your areas? Did the army say don’t build hospitals in your areas, did the army say don’t build colleges and universities in your areas? There is a way that we blame the army for our problems, we hang our heads in shame over what has been happening to the military leadership since last year, who are being honeyed by the terrorists used by Indian intelligence agencies in Lal Waziristan and Balochistan. The patience of General Asim Munir should be appreciated, who remained silent even on the bitterest allegation.Because he knew that the enemy of Pakistan wanted to turn the younger generation against his army, General Asim Munir knew that the blame was not on General Asim Munir or his colleagues but on the Pakistan Army.
The way pakistan’s army chief has controlled the atmosphere in Pakistan in the last few months, it is not difficult to guess that he is a visionary politician, if there was a political leader in his place, then the chaos would have spread in the country so much that the street would be presenting the scene of Afghanistan and Syria because most of our politicians have only to silence the opponents. There are sticks and bullets, but Asim Munir knew Today, the whole nation is standing with its armed forces, those who have received funding from India and Israel have been exposed and pray to God that the atmosphere of unity and peace will be maintained in Pakistan in the coming days and years. The doors of institutions like ISPR should be opened for Sindhi, Baloch students, writers and writers so that the gap between us can be further reduced because it has become very difficult to reach ISPR in the last few years.
