PCB Chairman Seeks to Revive Cricketing Rivalry Amid Strained Relations
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf offered the Indian Cricket Board to play a bilateral series under the Jinnah Gandhi Trophy. Expressing his desire to revive the tournament, he suggested holding a Jinnah-Gandhi Trophy on the lines of the Ashes Series between England and Australia. There has been no bilateral series since 2012/13 due to strained relations between the two neighboring countries; several attempts have been made to resolve this issue, but no positive results have been achieved. Teams from traditional rivals Pakistan and India compete against each other in ICC or ACC events. After 2019, there has been no ODI match between Pakistan and India teams; the two teams will compete against each other after 4 years in the World Cup scheduled in India.
