The lives of patients suffering from blood disorders are extremely difficult. Hemophilia is one of these various diseases. Hemophilia is called a royal disease because it affected the royal families of England, Germany, Russia, and Spain in the 19th and 20th centuries. Queen Victoria of England, who ruled from 1837-1901, is believed to have been a carrier of hemophilia factor 9 and passed the gene on to 3 of her 9 children, perpetuating the disease in different forms through generations. Hemophilia is an inherited disease that typically affects males. Hemophilia A is caused by a deficiency in factor 8, while hemophilia B is caused by a deficiency in factor 9.

In this disease, there is a decrease in the particles responsible for blood clotting in the affected patients. This leads to the concern that the affected area may bleed more than normal in the case of a minor cut or injury. In a healthy individual, the normal amount of Factor 8 and Factor 9 is between 50IU-200IU. If someone is suffering from hemophilia, the severity of the disease is determined based on this amount. If the level in the blood is less than 1%, it is considered severe hemophilia, and if it is between 1-5%, it is considered moderate hemophilia, and if it is more than 5%, it is considered mild hemophilia. The treatment for this disease is a timely and healthy transfusion of blood.

“FFP (Fresh Frozen Plasma) or (Dry Factor) are available in injection form for patients with Hemophilia, who cannot perform any heavy physical work or exercise. According to estimates, one child in every 4000-5000 is born with Hemophilia A and one child in every 10000-20000 is born with Hemophilia B. World Hemophilia Day is celebrated every year on April 17th with the aim of raising awareness about this disease among people and providing new opportunities and facilities for the treatment of these patients so that the lives of those affected by this disease can be made better and safer. This day is celebrated in honor of Frank Schnabel, the founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH), on his birthday. The theme of this day this year is a continuation of the theme of last year.”

The fundamental objective of this is to provide treatment for hemophilia and other blood diseases according to global standards so that patients can also lead a good life. Unfortunately, the Pakistani government is not showing much interest in hemophilia, along with many other diseases. There are no specialized centers in the country for children with this disease, which should be taken care of at the government level. The government should make hemophilia a part of the curriculum and raise awareness. Organizations working on hemophilia, including a major name, Sandes Foundation, are treating 7,000 patients with hemophilia, thalassemia, and other blood disorders without discrimination. Not only are children being treated in these organizations, but patients are also benefiting from modern equipment for dental and physiotherapy.

The Sundas Foundation is operating 8 centers in Pakistan, which are located in Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, and Islamabad. Furthermore, in order to further Manu Bhai’s resolve, construction of a hospital comprising 200 beds has begun in Lahore. Through your donations, you can assign rooms, wards, and blocks in the hospital in the name of your loved ones or parents, which will serve as ongoing charity for the patients.

Along with this, donate your Zakat and donations to the Sundas Foundation, so that the treatment of patients suffering from deadly diseases such as hemophilia and thalassemia can continue. So let’s all come together and become a part of this great mission, and contribute our share. Pray that Allah Almighty grants us perseverance in this mission.
